Dubois develops the representation of the products and joins forces with the Hutchinson group, owner of the AIGLE brand. Dubois becomes the market leader in riding boots, hunting and fishing boots. SEBAGO chooses Dubois to attack the Belgian market. This choice is a real success for the company. Following the death of her brother, Mr Jean Dubois, Mrs Irma Dubois took over the position of Managing Director. Her son, Jean-Jacques Vankeerberghen, assisted her in this task from 1983 onwards. Subsequently, the companies AIGLE and SEBAGO entrusted Dubois with the distribution of their products in the Netherlands. Subsequently, Mr Jean-Jacques Vankeerberghen became Managing Director, assisted by his wife Marie-Cécile Rosman.
In 1992, Dubois became the exclusive distributor of CATERPILLAR shoes for Belgium and Luxembourg.
In 1993, Dubois created its own brand: BERGHEN hiking boots. A Belgian brand, made in Europe, quite unique for the market.
In the 2000s, the Dubois storage and distribution centre moved to the industrial estate in Nivelles.
The marketing department (mediabuying, e-commerce, PR) was born to improve each brand and create a strategy for the Benelux market. This way, every marketing opportunity and every B2B/B2C customer can be addressed. In addition, some brands have a local e-shop at the request of WHQ, managed by Dubois.
Nearly 70 years after its creation, Dubois has resisted to establish itself in the footwear industry as a safe bet, currently counting around 20 employees. In 2018, the team was reinforced by Laurens Desmaele, as the new commercial Director. In 2021 he becomes a member of the Board.
In recent years, the range has been expanded with the Swiss brand GANT and the Italian brands SUPERGA and KAPPA. In addition, Dubois owns its own shops Berghenstore and Sebago Flagship Antwerp.
